Blackjack Cats slot is a July 2020 release from Asylum Labs and it offers something which feels quite fresh and new in the online slots world. It is 5×3 reel slot which boasts 30 paylines with an RTP of 96.15%. The variance is not yet disclosed but judging by my time spent playing the game i would say it’s most likely medium variance. The bonus game has a hit rate of 1 in 89 but it took me personally far longer to land it, perhaps 600 spins, but that’s just the luck of the draw. Build Your Blackjack Hands
Each reel has a place below it where you build your blackjack hand. This happens when the Trashcan symbol appears and the dealer will pop out and give you a card.
If you can get 17 or above on any hand it will turn the reel above it into a “hot reel”. getting 17 or 18 will give you extra Wilds with a 1x Multiplier, 19 will give you extra Wilds with a 2x Mulitplier, 20 gives a 3x and if you get blackjack (An Ace and One Picture Card) you get extra wild at a 4x multiplier. This really help keep the game interesting and can make for some big wins in the base game.
However, should any given hand at the bottom of any reel go over 21 then you’re “busted” and all reels reset to 0.
Bonus Round and Free Spins
This is where things get really interesting and you stand the chance of bagging some monstrous wins. You trigger the free spins round by getting 17 plus on all 5 hands below the corresponding reels and you can see how this plays out in the video below. The Wilds when they land are all Sticky, and the Multiplier values will be those which you landed in the base game building up to the free spins. 7 free spins are awarded for this feature.
Sound and Graphics
Blackjack Cats slot look really pleasing to the eye. The animated cat dealing the cards sitting on the trashcan set against the Manhattan skyline creates a real nighttime gambling den type atmosphere and all the symbols of the various cats look well done. When you land a trashcan a cat will pop out and deal you a card in a really nice little animation. The symbols include the Wild, which is a mouse ad replaces any symbol except the Trashcan where the dealer pops out from. The highest paying symbol is the Royal Princess, which is a female cat with a gold crown and necklace. Then you have Moneybags with his Top Hat on, Fat Tabby, Slick Sam and Finally Young Felix as the lowest paying premium symbol. After this you’ve got the obligatory Playing cards symbols from Ace to 10.
Sound wise the music fits perfectly and helps add to the atmosphere. Sound effects are well done and not over the top, making it a joy to play with the sound on.
